The majority of defects associated with flat roof roofs stem from a lack of design consderation, particualry at interfaces with other elements of the building such as cladding, brickwork, M&E plant and door thresholds.
There is a heavy reliance in the industry on working to "manufacturers standard details". However, manufacturers typical details tend to focus on how the system goes together and, at times, can be generic. They certainly aren't a "one solution fits all" and by no means bespoke to your specific project.
